Dr Declan Plummer

MEET YOUR TUTOR

Declan is a professional music teacher, lecturer and specialist in online music education, with a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and PhD in Music. Alongside his academic teaching, he is an experienced Irish traditional musician who plays and teaches Irish bouzouki, tin whistle, Irish flute, bodhrán and uilleann pipes.

His approach combines clear explanation with practical playing — helping students understand how chords, rhythm, melody and accompaniment actually work together in Irish traditional music, rather than simply memorising shapes and patterns. Declan has taught music through institutions including the Ulster College of Music, City of Belfast School of Music, Piano Academy of Ireland and Queen’s University Belfast.
