Follow every chord through the progression and connect what you hear to its Roman-numeral function.
Play individual chords, pivot progressions, destination-key reinterpretations or the complete modulation.
Drag or tap chords into a 16-chord workspace, edit the progression and hear your complete modulation instantly.
Choose block chords or arpeggios, legato or detached articulation, and adjustable piano pedal settings.
The Modulation & Key-Change Trainer allows you to hear, understand and create harmonic movement between keys. It generates piano-based modulation exercises in ALL major and minor keys, improves your ability to identify the destination key, and reveals detailed pivot-chord options all with the full analysis.
You can compare common chords between two keys, hear individual chords and full progressions, and explore how the harmony changes during modulation. A dedicated modulation builder allows you to choose a starting key and destination, then drag or tap recommended starting-key, pivot and destination-key chords into a 16-chord progression!
Completed modulations can be played using block chords or arpeggios, adjusted with articulation and pedal controls, and exported as a PNG image. The app is ideal for song writing, aural training, harmony study, composition, analysis and exam preparation.
